About Lene Fogelberg
Lene Fogelberg is a Wall Street Journal bestselling and award-winning author. Her work spans memoir, young adult fiction, and poetry. She writes stories about the choices people make when everything they love is at stake.
Raised in a small town on the Swedish west coast, Fogelberg developed an early connection to poetry and literature. Her long-standing curiosity about language and place led her to study and live abroad in France, Germany, the United States, Indonesia, and Malaysia. After eight years in Southeast Asia, she returned to Sweden with her family. Born with a congenital heart disease, she has undergone three open-heart surgeries, experiences that have profoundly influenced both her life and her writing.
Although an award-winning poet in Sweden, Fogelberg has written primarily in English. Her memoir, Beautiful Affliction, became a Wall Street Journal bestseller and received a national gold medal at the 2016 Independent Publisher Book Awards. It was also a finalist in the USA Best Book Awards and the International Book Awards, and released as audiobook by Tantor Media. It was translated into German and published by Bastei Lübbe under the title Mein Glück kann jeden Tag zerbrechen. The Swedish edition, Om det vackra, was published by Lava Förlag in April 2026.
Fogelberg’s debut young adult novel, The Lightning Tree, was published in 2022 and became a No. 1 Amazon bestseller in the United States. It received a gold medal at the 2023 Moonbeam Book Awards and was released as audiobook by Fireside Audio. It was followed in 2023 by The Oaken Queen, the second installment of The NI Revolution Trilogy, which also became a No. 1 Amazon bestseller in the United States. The final book in the trilogy, The Token Tree, was released in February 2026.
