Lene Fogelberg is a Wall Street Journal bestselling and award-winning author. Her work spans memoir, young adult fiction, and poetry. She writes stories about the choices people make when everything they love is at stake.
Raised in a small town on the Swedish west coast, Fogelberg developed an early connection to poetry and literature, shaped by the quiet intensity of rural life. A long-standing curiosity about language and place later led her to study and live abroad in France, Germany, the United States, Indonesia and Malaysia. After eight years in Southeast Asia, she returned to Sweden with her family.
Although an award-winning poet in Sweden, Fogelberg has written primarily in English. Her memoir Beautiful Affliction became a Wall Street Journal bestseller and received a national gold medal at the 2016 Independent Publisher Book Awards. The book was also a finalist in the USA Best Book Awards and the International Book Awards, and has been released as an audiobook by Tantor Media. It has been translated into German and published by Bastei Lübbe under the title Mein Glück kann jeden Tag zerbrechen. The Swedish edition, Om det vackra, will be published by Lava Förlag in April 2026.
Fogelberg’s debut YA novel, The Lightning Tree, was published in 2022 and became an Amazon bestseller. It was released as an audiobook by Fireside Audio. The book was followed by The Oaken Queen in 2023, the second installment of The NI Revolution Trilogy. The final book in the trilogy is scheduled for release in 2026.
Her writing has appeared in publications including The Huffington Post, Writer’s Digest, First For Women, Women’s World, We Heart Writing, She Writes, and Women Writers, Women’s Books.
